Part of early golfing history - 1870, the course itself was an Old Tom Morris original design and is known as the "Shortest True Links in the world" 🌍🌎🌏
Of the 38,000 golf courses worldwide only 260 are classed as True Links.

Red Sandstone Rocks are a major feature in the routing of the golf course. These were formed in the Devonian period when Scotland was a tropical area south of the Equator
Old Tom Morris (known as the Grand Old Man of Golf), was a pioneer in the game.
As Old Tom travelled North from St Andrews, he found the same sandy soil and turf along the bay between Cullen and Portknockie.
When he decided to build a new golf golf here, he Old Tom designed the original 9 holes. The map of which can be found in clubhouse.
